IMCD Benelux is looking for a new colleague to join the team as a Supply Service Representative.

IMCD is a publicly listed distributor of specialty chemicals and food ingredients with offices around the world. The Jan Dekker team, based in Amsterdam, focuses on the Cosmetics, Food, and Homecare industries. Jan Dekker is part of IMCD Benelux and operates with a small, dedicated team to supply global customers with butters, oils, antioxidants, and preservatives.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the entire order process in an international environment. Global events — such as a blocked ship in the Suez Canal, poor harvests, or political tensions — can directly impact your work, making each day different. That’s why an interest in supply chain and logistics challenges is essential.

What will you do?

As a Supply Service Representative, you’ll be the central point of contact for handling orders from start to finish. Your “customers” are other IMCD offices worldwide that purchase Jan Dekker products. To keep them informed about order status, you’ll be in daily contact with transport partners, the warehouse, and colleagues from production, purchasing, and sales. When unexpected issues arise, you’ll proactively seek solutions and keep all stakeholders updated.

In addition to coordinating tasks, administrative responsibilities are a key part of the role. These include processing orders in the ERP system, performing stock analyses, and preparing export documentation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing sales orders in our ERP system
  • Acting as the first point of contact for customers, suppliers, and logistics partners (by phone and email)
  • Organizing transport of goods to customers and warehouses across Europe, and managing global export shipments
  • Coordinating with logistics partners on delivery times and costs
  • Ensuring correct documentation for export shipments (air and sea freight)
  • Providing solutions and alternatives when issues arise
  • Understanding and accommodating specific customer requirements within set parameters
  • Handling complaints accurately and efficiently
  • Serving as backup for customer service colleagues during absences

 

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, can stay organized under pressure, and remains calm when things get busy. You’re proactive, solution-oriented, and detail-focused.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor-level education or equivalent experience
  • A few years of relevant experience in a similar supply chain or logistics role
  • Knowledge of export shipments and related documentation is a must
  • Experience with ERP systems is preferred
  • A team player who is proactive and flexible
  • Accurate and analytical thinking
  • Available for at least 32 hours per week
  • Affinity with the chemical industry is a plus
